Sixth Form

The transformational experience our sixth form pupils have enjoyed in recent years has continued to yield the best A level results in our School's history.  Furthermore our senior pupils have progressed to the next step in their career as leaders who are resilient and self-assured. We are proud of how our senior pupils continue to reflect our key values and ethos in their character and determination to succeed.

Using your own Technology

Senior pupils are encouraged to bring and use their own device in the Sixth Form Study Area and also in classes at the discretion of teachers and subject leaders. Mobile phones, however, are not permitted to be used during the school day apart from break and lunch time. We strongly believe a strict adherence to this principle is in the pupil's best interest and more likely to result in quality private study time and academic success in the long term.

EMA

The Educational Maintenance Allowance (EMA) is a means-tested payment of £30 a week paid fortnightly to those who are aged 16 to 19 years who continue in education and have a household income below the designated threshold. The EMA application process can only be completed online (click here) and if successful our school is alerted regarding the pupil's eligibility. Further to a successful application each pupil is required to complete a Learning Agreement form in school and maintain good levels of study, punctuation and attendance as outlined in the Learning Agreement.

Prefects

The role of a prefect is an honour at Antrim Grammar School and an important leadership opportunity for any pupil to ‘give back’ to the broader school community of which they have been a part, for almost six years. As a prefect, pupils are expected to uphold the values of the school at every opportunity and contribute meaningfully to maintaining a safe and caring environment where all pupils feel valued and an integral part of school life.

All pupils in Year 13 may apply to be a Prefect and the process commences in March of each academic year.

Work Experience

Work Experience is a key milestone in the progress of our senior pupils and we expect every pupil to arrange a meaningful Work Experience Placement in Year 13, a stage in a pupil's life when they are beginning to formulate firm notions on their future pathway. All pupils register their Placement details by clicking this link Work Experience Registration.
